Illinois Secretary of State Corporation Search

Search the Illinois Secretary of State for a corporation by its name located in the business database. After entering the name you may sort through all matching keywords through the listings page. From there, click on the name of business (light blue link) and the corporate records will show and appear for viewing.

How to Search

Step 1 – Go to This WebPage and click on the first button that reads ‘Corporate’ to isolate our lookup. Then in the blank field under the title ‘ENTER YOUR SEARCH’ complete with the name of your business. Followed by clicking the ‘Submit’ button.

illinois-sos-corporation-name-search-webpageStep 2 – View the search results by previewing the entity’s type, eight (8) digit filing number, and the official name as its listed with the Secretary of State. Click on the name and you will be sent to the ‘Corporation File Detail Report’ page.



Step 3 – On this page, the records page, you will be able to view the entity’s: name, file number, status, type of entity, type of corporation, incorporation/qualification date, State of jurisdiction, registered agent’s name and address, officer’s (president’s) name and address, secretary’s name and address, annual report filing date, and any assumed names. On the bottom of the page you can purchase a Certificate of Good Standing.



Name Reservation

An individual in the State of Illinois may reserve a business name for ninety (90) days and by filing Form BCA 4.10 along with the filing fee of $25 and sending to the following address:
