Colorado Secretary of State Name Availability Search

Search the Colorado business database to see if an entity name exists that you would like to either create as an entity (corporation, LLC, or partnership) or reserve the name. The name you select should be typed in its most simple form as to make sure there are no other similar or relevant matches.

How to Search

Step 1 – Go to This WebPage and enter the name you would like to consider on the third (3rd) blank line.

Step 2 – After entering the name the database will either tell you the name is or is not available. If it is, you will get a message like the one below.

Name Reservation

According to Statute 7-90-602 if you would like to reserve a name to be saved for later use you can do so on the Secretary of State’s Website by following the steps below.

Step 1 – Go to This WebPage and enter the name you would like to reserve. After typing click the ‘Next’ button.

Step 2 – You will now have to enter your personal information such as your name, mailing address, email address, and the address where the Secretary of State will send notices. Agree to the disclaimer and on the next page you will have to pay the $25 filing fee.
